What's In My... | Boohoo.com Basket!

Hello everyone! I've recently fallen in love with the clothes on Boohoo.com, a lot of the pieces are exactly the same as pieces that you'd find on the high street, but much, much cheaper. Since I got a brochure through the post offering me 20% off of my order, I decided to hop on over and have a gander at what they had to offer. This is what happened!

After going to see Paramore live for my 18th birthday, I felt very inspired. If you've read my Liebster post,  you'll know that Hayley Williams is one of my fashion icons, and during that particular gig she was wearing a super shiny pair of latex leggings from Syren and as soon as I saw them, I wanted them. Slight problem though, the Syren leggings came in at a hefty $150, which is just over £90. Ouch.

I really struggled finding photos of Hayley wearing these that were half decent quality, so ended up with these! She has a black pair and a red pair, although you really do have to see them in person to get the full 'effect'!
In my mind, these really do blow every single other pair of 'wet look' leggings out of the water. Excuse the pun. I didn't lie when I said SUPER shiny. Damn, she could probably see her own reflection in those if she held her leg up high enough, and I LOVE them.
So, the hunt began for a pair of 'latex look' leggings at a budget price and I must say, the search was extremely difficult. In the least crude way possible, latex leggings, even though coming into fashion, are widely considered as 'fetish' wear. Now, that is far FAR FAR from what I want to wear them for, and needless to say, I went through some very scary searches. Let's not go there.

But alas! Boohoo.com to the rescue! As if by miracle, I came across this pair of Ruby High Shine Leggings for just £10, and they do look suspiciously like Hayley's latex ones if I do say so myself! For a fraction of the price of the Syren leggings, I felt obliged to snap these right up, they're made of polyester and are definitely more comfortable than the full latex ones would have been!
(And for those of you wondering, yes I may have put these on and jumped around my room singing bad renditions of Paramore songs whilst pretending to be Hayley... But I digress...)

I decided while I was on the website I might as well have a look around, came across these Fiona Tartan Shorts, and instantly fell in love. They came in at £18, which is fairly reasonable for shorts these days so I thought 'why not?!' and added them to my basket. Tartan print is becoming increasingly popular, and during the winter I tend to wear shorts/skirts over 37581918 pairs of layered tights rather than a pair of jeans. I thought these would be a really cute little staple pair of shorts for the winter, and they're surprisingly warm which is a bonus! However, I bought a size 8 and I'm not sure if they've been labelled wrong as they're huge on me. Ah well, nothing a bit of alteration can't fix I guess.

That's all for my Boohoo.com purchases, and apart from the whole 'shorts sizing situation', I'm very VERY impressed. They stocked my beloved 'Hayley dupe' leggings when literally nowhere else did, and loads of other really cute items at half the price that you'd pay in a high street store. I'll definitely be purchasing a lot more from Boohoo in the future!

DIY Day | Butterfly Cut-Out Canvas

Hello everyone!
I apologise for my absence, I've been very ill and among numerous trips to the hospital and my boyfriend's band practises, I've not had a minute to sit behind my laptop and write for you guys. :(

So the bad weather has most definitely hit us in the UK, it has not only been freezing, but soaking wet, and extremely windy. Boo, hiss. I love having snuggly days in watching Disney films with duvets and hot chocolate while it's cold outside, and on one particular day, I decided to get creative, and I'm really excited to share the outcome with you!

My mum found some of her grandad's old sheet music, and has been making canvases with paper cut outs for a while in all different shapes, colours and sizes. She decided it would be a good idea to use the sheet music, so I jumped on the bandwagon and decided to have a stab at it myself.

I put together this cute little step by step collage just for you, isn't it lovely? Ooh, check me out getting all collage-y.
The process of making the canvas was pretty simple, it just took a lot of time and patience, which is something that I don't usually have a lot of! However, I must have been feeling particularly serene that day to sit and finish this considering it took me a few hours to get the hang of!

Around two or three hours later, and the outcome was this beautiful looking canvas which fits perfectly in my room and that I'm very proud of! I had a lot of fun making it and it felt good to let my creative side out, and have something nice to show for it at the end.
I know this isn't really very beauty or fashion related, but I thought it was too pretty not to share! I'll definitely be making more of these in the future as the colder weather settles in, so if you're interested in me doing a full tutorial on how to make one of these, do let me know!

I'll be back with a proper post once I'm feeling tip-top again!

What's In My... | Birthday Stash!

Hello lovelies! It's Friday so today I'm doing my belated 'What's In My...' post that should have really been done last week but hey ho!

As some of you may know, I turned 18 last Tuesday, so I thought it'd be cool to give you a run down of the main girly bits that I received!
Before I start, I just want to make it clear that I am by no means bragging, I'm really not that type of person and I hate blowing my own trumpet. I was extremely lucky to receive what I did, and most of it was beauty or fashion related anyway, so I thought it was stuff you guys might be interested in and want to take a look at!

I'll start off with the jewellery side of things.
The first present I received was from my mum, and she bought me my gorgeous Michael Kors Rose Gold watch that I've wanted for aaaaages! I've got teeny tiny twig wrists, so there were more links taken out at the jewellers than left in so it would fit me!

I then got this absolutely beautiful Thomas Sabo rose gold ring from my boyfriend, who is an absolute sweetheart. Thomas Sabo is by far becoming my favourite jewellers, everything is so quirky and pretty and lovely, this ring matches my watch perfectly and it's got a lot of sentimental value to it.

Then, low and behold I got ANOTHER Thomas Sabo ring from my auntie, which I have also wanted for years and years! He's a little silver snake with gemstone eyes and I've named him Pete and he's the best.

The last little bits of jewellery I received were both Pandora charms, one from my dad and one from my cousins. The one from my dad is a really sweet little heart with '18' engraved onto it, and the other is a little silver present with a pink ribbon and a little silver heart tag, which I think is the cutest. thing. ever.

Onto beauty!
One of the stand-out beauty things I got was a Spa Day for two at Five Lakes Spa and I almost had a heart attack when I saw the place. It's so beautiful and it includes full access to the pools and the saunas and I get a Clarins facial done and I can't wait to be pampered! No cucumber for my eyes though, I have a thing about cucumber being put on my face. Thinking about it, I've just got this thing for cucumbers in general. Massive no no.

Yes, that IS supposed to be the French Kiss bubble bar but I used some, so it's lost its shape.
The next lot absolutely blew me away. I got a Lush 'Relax More' gift box which includes the Twilight Bath Ballistic, a Dream Time Bath Melt, a Therapy Massage Bar, and A French Kiss and The Comforter Bubble Bars, all full size, and they all smell amazing. I tried some of the French Kiss bubble bar the other day and it was awesome.

Also from Lush is this really cute little Mr Bumble and you unwrap him from his wings and he's got a Honey Bee Bath Ballistic and a Honey I Washed the Kids Soap inside, not to mention he smells divine. I almost don't want to use anything inside because he's too cute!

I got a honker of a stash of perfumes, the first being my all time favourite Ghost fragrance in a gift set, which, if you read my wish list post, you'll know I had ran out of!

The sun came out while I was taking this and made the bottle look AH-MAZING.
There's Taylor Swift Wonderstruck, which I wasn't too sure on at first, but was pleasantly surprised with! I've worn it a few times and it actually smells really nice!

Finally, I got a huge bottle of J'adore by Dior from my Dad, and a Chanel nail polish -jaw drops to floor-. I have LOVED J'adore ever since it's launch when I was in Year 7 (which was around 6 years ago I might add!) but have never been in a financial position to buy any because it's always been so damn expensive.
I have no words for the Chanel nail polish. It's a beautiful deep red colour and it's number '18' and it's perfection.
In the end, even my Dad managed to get me some girly bits - Dad, I'm impressed!

So those are the main girly, beauty-y, and fashion-y bits that I'm now keeping in my little 18th birthday stash! It's my boyfriend's 18th next Sunday so I've got a high bar to beat! Let me know if there's anything in this post that you'd like me to review or take a closer look at, or what you'd like to see in next week's 'What's In My' post!

Thankyou for reading <3

Excited for Halloween? | Zombie Makeup Competition!

Background image courtesy of Google

Ever wanted to be in a film? Work behind the scenes? Become a makeup artist? NCS are running an amazing competition that means you, yes you, could star in, work behind the scenes, produce, or be a makeup artist for a feature film!

Seeing as the Autumn season is settling in, the next major holiday of the season is coming up. Any guesses?
-waits for answer, which I'm sure you'll all get right-
Yup, it's soon to be Halloween! The theme for the film coincides with this, and yep, you guessed it, it's a Zombie film called 'NCS Bites Back'. Brilliant! Working with prosthetic makeup and transforming someone from a human to a fully-fledged zombie has always amazed me, so it's an amazing oppurtunity for all you budding makeup artists out there to really get to grips with and learn about cinematic makeup!

I studied TV & Film in college last year, so coming from that sort of background it seems really fun to be able to get behind the camera - or even in front of it, and be involved in making something that's your own. The sense of achievement at the end of it all is amazing, and you'll be able to get some really valuable experience, especially if you want to be a film-maker, an actor or a makeup artist to the stars in the years to come!

All you have to do to enter is go to: http://apps.facebook.com/ncszombieapp

I've put some links to some really cool tutorials that I found below, to give you guys some inspiration and show you just how clever zombie makeup can be!

Final entries are TOMORROW so if you're interested, head over to the NCS page above and get your zombie on!

Let me know if you're excited for Halloween, if you're partying, what will your outfits be this year? And Most importantly, if you've entered the competition!

A/W Lipstick Loves | Dior Reds

Last week I possibly had the most eventful week of all weeks ever. On top of my 18th birthday bits and bobs, seeing family, going to college and what not, our internet decided it didn't want to work any more and completely crashed out. After long phonecalls with our provider and screwdrivers being shoved into wall fittings etc. we're finally back up and running! Sorry about that.

ANYWAY, it suddenly occurred to me this morning that I haven't done a 'proper' makeup post in quite a while!
As the colder months snap at our heels, fashion and makeup looks are changing drastically and I'm finding it hard to keep up!

I've had these two lipsticks lying around in my makeup drawer for ages now, I was gifted them by my nan, bless her heart, however I've never really been a 'red lipstick' person, let alone a lipstick person at all. This summer I took the plunge and bought some 'proper' lipsticks to try out, but they were all very coraly/pinky colours, which aren't great for the A/W trends! So I thought if I'd been brave enough to do that and end up loving it, then why not take a step deeper into the plunge and try out some bolder reds!

Seeing as I had them lying around anyway, I first thought to try out these two Dior lipsticks, which were both reds (surprise, surprise!). Now, I'm most definitely not a high end makeup person, pretty much because I can never afford it! It's just by chance that these are quite 'posh' lippys, but by no means does this mean that I'm stinking rich/got a lotta cash/rolling in the dollar!

They are both Dior Addict lipcolors, the first one is a High Shine Translucent one and it's in the colour '750 Runway Red'. Despite it looking quite dark in the photo, it's the lighter colour of the two. Damn you, natural lighting. I've taken to this one more than the other one just because it's not an 'in your face bright red', it's more translucent and seems nicer to wear if you're only just easing into the process of wearing red lipstick. This lippy has a really lovely shimmer to it, and looks really pretty on! The colour is quite sheer at first and the formula is super moisturising and really easy to build up if you're a bit braver, unlike me!
The packaging is so super pretty, like the lipstick, it's translucent and shines rainbow colours when you hold it up to the light, beautiful!

The second lippy is just a normal Dior Addict Lipcolor, in '873 Technicolor Red'. This one is a bit bolder than the previous one and is a darker pinky red colour with a gorgeous micro shimmer. Instead of a more translucent colour, this one's almost opaque when you put it on, it's super super pigmented and a little goes a long way! It's really moisturising and creamy and lovely to wear, and I can't wait for the day when I take the plunge and I'm brave enough to wear it!
 L-R: 750 Runway Red, 873 Technicolor Red
Left: 873 Technicolor Red
Right: 750 Runway Red

Excuse the multiple hairband marks on my wrist in the above photo, I fell asleep with them round my wrist last night *slaps hand*.
These are pretty much the only higher end lipsticks that I have ever owned and I must say I'm rather impressed. I think red lips look lovely with a simple cat eye look and all of the monochrome pieces that are coming into fashion recently, it really adds a nice pop of colour, so I'd better sort myself out and get to wearing these soon!

I'm pretty sure these retail at around £24, which is pretty extortionate for a lipstick, considering you can pick up a MAC one for around £15, but it's all part of the fun I guess. I'm currently working on LOADS more posts that I can queue up for you so I definitely won't be away for this long ever again! Have you ever tried any Dior lippys? Are you like me and aren't quite brave enough to rock red lipstick, but want to try this season? Leave me a lovely little comment and I will be back tomorrow with a second 'What's In My...' post!
