BLOGMAS Week Four | Christmas Day, Gigging, Longboarding & Pressies!

I'll first start by apologising for the different Blogmas header, it was only after I got to my dad's house that I realised I'd forgotten my laptop, so I'm currently using his! That also means that all the photos I took on my camera won't be added until I get home after New Year's, but luckily my dad snapped a few on his huge-ass-bigger-than-mine camera.

Well, what a week! It's always upsetting when Christmas comes to an end, and getting back to my normal every-day life is just not enjoyable in my books. Some say that if we had Christmas every day, we wouldn't appreciate it, but oh boy give me the magic of Christmas every day and I'll be in paradise.

I suppose I'll start with Christmas Day, I didn't get up to anything fancy or go anywhere posh, the whole family came to my dad's house instead. It was really nice getting together and enjoying a day with my family - they live all over the place so it's rare that we all ever see each other at once (although, with 14 adults, one dog, two cats, and a baby all in the same room, the house seemed to shrink significantly!) I was especially excited to see my 9 month old baby cousin Imogen, who I'd only ever seen once, when she was asleep. She was so so adorable and it quite possibly made my Christmas dressing her up as a little elf!

When the time for present giving came around, my Dad decided to get everyone matching Christmas jumpers, made us all open them before dinner, and then made wearing them compulsory at the dinner table. Genius I tell you, genius. In true festive fashion, we put the camera on timer and took some cringey family photos.

I was extremely lucky to receive what I did this Christmas, and I must admit, I felt well and truly spoiled! I've decided against doing a generic 'What I Got For Christmas' post, but seeing as I got a lot of beauty related bits and bobs *Lush..-cough-..MAC..-ahem-..* do expect to see reviews and posts of the sort in the New Year!

♥ Nathan's a drummer, he's in a band, and after months of rehearsals and practise, they played their debut gig at a local music venue on Saturday night! I'm literally so proud of him, their music sounded awesome, the light show that went with it was fantastic and so many people showed up to support them! If there's one thing I want to see in life, I'd love to see Nath and his band mates succeed.

Me and Nath also went out on a whim and amongst other small gifts, decided we were going to buy each other longboards (don't ask why!) Nathan's always been a skater, and it always looked like a lot of fun when he did it so I decided I wanted to get in on the act. We decided to go out on them yesterday, and naturally, I almost went flat on my arse several times. Once I got used to it though, it actually ended up being stupidly fun! We were going so fast downhill and by the summer I can see myself bombing around on it like it's nobody's business.

I found it so hard to condense this week down into one, readable post - so much cool Christmassy stuff happened, but if I typed it all out we'd be here for days. Literal days. Weeks maybe. This is also the last Blogmas post that I'm going to do, as in two days it'll be January... eeeeeek! If you enjoyed Blogmas please do let me know, it'd be lovely to hear your responses and maybe I'll even keep the whole 'weekly summary' thing going!

I hope you've all had a wonderful Christmas, and have a lovely New Year!

BLOGMAS Week Three | Swan Lake, Pizza and Festive Wrapping

It's Blogmas week threeeeeeee *cue fairy lights*
Another week has come to an end, and Christmas is on our tails, squeeee! This week has been pretty crazy work-wise, so this'll only be a short post I'm afraid! Although, these past couple of days have been nice just chilling out and getting my breath back before Christmas arrives.

Yesterday was the first time I got to see Nathan (the boyf) in about two weeks, so in true fashion, we treated ourselves to pizza, chilled out and watched films. It was lovely.

I started wrapping presents! I had some little shiny balls left over from decorating my tree, so decided to put them to good use and make my presents look pretty. I'm never usually that good at wrapping, so I'm quite proud of my efforts thus far! Also, I absolutely adore the tartan wrapping paper that I picked up in Sainsbury's, it's something a little bit different and looks really cute.

The highlight of my week was taking a trip to Sadler's Wells in London's West End to see Swan Lake with my college. I honestly didn't know what to expect, and went into the theatre thinking I was going to see a classical ballet. I was so wrong. Matthew Bourne put an amazing contemporary twist on the Swan Lake story, and the dancers were absolutely out of this world crazy good. I understood the whole story perfectly without anyone on stage having to say a word, and I can now say it'd be an absolute dream to work with Matthew Bourne one day. If you ever get the chance to go and see this, do it, you won't be disappointed!

Holy crap it's Christmas Eve Eve, I have a 10 hour Christmas Eve shift at work tomorrow and then it's Christmas. I definitely don't feel ready. Doesn't mean I'm not excited though!

Christmas Present Buying for Boyfriends/Dads/Brothers

I can't get enough of Christmas, it's the most wonderful tiiiime of the yeeeear (yes I did just sing that as I typed it) and I usually start picking up Christmas gifts at the very start of December. However, this year has seen me running around like a headless chicken trying to get all my presents sorted, and I didn't actually get paid until Friday, which of course makes everything even harder. Who's idea was it to pay us 5 days before Christmas? 5 DAYS. It looks like I'm definitely going to be THAT mad woman dashing around late at night before all the shops close, desperately trying to get hold of everything I need.

Another factor that's making my Christmas rush ever-so difficult is the fact that my Boyfriend is the hardest person to buy for. Ever. I love him to the ends of the Earth and back again, but jeeeez he's a difficult one when it comes to presents! That's why when the lovely people at Bonobos* (also known as the Bonobos Ninjas, which might I add, is the coolest thing ever and amuses me endlessly) introduced me to their gift guide for the man who has almost everything, it was an absolute blessing.

Number 1 - It's colour co-ordinated, and let's face it, who doesn't love a bit of colour co-ordination in their lives?
Number 2 - They have honestly thought of EVERYTHING. I can easily pick out what I'd buy for each and every man in my family. There's even really cool stuff like a trip to space, I wasn't lying when I said they'd thought of everything!

I thought it'd be nice to show you both mine & Nathan's picks from the bunch, in the hopes that if you've got a man in your life who's particularly difficult to buy for, or if you're last minute panic-buying, this will help!

MY PICKS
Can't go wrong with a good ol' check shirt, I personally love Nathan in a flannel shirt and the great thing is that I can steal it to wear for myself as well if I happen to get chilly and whatnot ;)

♥ Isn't this alarm clock the coolest looking thing ever? I know I definitely get sick of the sound of my iPhone alarm so this is a pretty cool alternative.

NATHAN'S PICKS
These beanies caught Nathan's eye as a wooly hat is his one staple piece during winter. He particularly went for the red one because it's the most 'christmassy'.

Being ever-so practical, he also picked these jeans. He goes through cheap pairs of jeans like there's no tomorrow, so he said he'd like to have a decent pair that'd last him longer! (Nathan only ever wants practical things, can you see now why it's so hard for me to treat him?!)

I hope this post has inspired you in some way, especially if you're like me and are having to panic-buy your last bits and pieces just days before Christmas! If you like what you see, be sure to head on over to the full gift guide hereBonobos currently ship to the US, Canada, Mexico, Australia and NZ, which sucks for us lot living in the UK, but never fear, the ninjas are working on it.

*I was kindly contacted by Bonobos, however all opinions of mine and Nathan's are our own, and have not been influenced in any way. This is not a sponsored post. See disclaimer page for more info. :)

BLOGMAS Week Two | Urban Decay, Christmas Shopping & More Decorations!

It's Blogmas Week Twooooooo *cue sleigh bells*
I'll be honest with you, this week has been nowhere near as interesting as last week, with college and work, I've not really had the time to do anything festive.

However, my dad recently arrived home from a trip to New York with his work (the lucky sod), and brought me back a few gifts which excite me no end!
Now I'm sure a lot of you will be surprised when I say I'm a 'Naked Pallette Virgin' and have never owned one. The exchange rate means that products are a lot cheaper to buy in America than in the UK, so I decided to ask for a Naked Pallette, and low and behold, my dad, a man who had absolutely no idea what I was on about, managed to find it in Macy's - bless him! I can only imagine what he must've looked like walking up to the counter haha. He picked the original pallette and I couldn't be happier with it!

The colours are so beautiful and I can't quite believe I didn't own this sooner. I'll be doing multiple festive looks with this I think! The pallette comes with a mini version of the UD Primer Potion, and because my dad spent over a certain amount, he also got a little bag with another 'Anti-Ageing' Primer Potion, a double ended eyeliner pencil and a mini version of the B6 Complexion Spray, which I'm eager to try out!

He also picked up this really cute Christmas decoration, which I have now fashioned as my tree-topper. The underlying story behind this is that I went ice-skating for my 11th birthday, and with only 5 minutes of rink time left, I went flying, fell flat on my arse and broke my nose for the second time. He got this because it reminded him of me and that moment, which he thought was hilarious.

Next on my to-do list was to start the family Christmas shopping (eeeek). I didn't really take any photos as it was waaaay too manic for my liking - Bluewater on a Saturday evening - you can just imagine how hectic it got. However, we did enjoy a cracking burger at Ed's Diner and may have had a few cheeky Krispy Kreme's too...

Finally, I picked up some more new festive decorations for my room -slaps wrist-
This pack of three wooden reindeer caught my eye first, they were so, so cute and only cost a few pounds. I got one small, one medium and one large reindeer and I'm thinking of naming them, feel free to comment suggestions below :)

Reindeer - Pack of 3, Sainsbury's, Chest of Drawers - TKMaxx

The final thing I picked up was this little baby penguin. He was £7 and when you squeeze his foot he flaps his wings like penguins do and sings 'Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas' in the CUTEST baby penguin voice I have ever heard and OMG I JUST CAN'T HE MELTED MY HEART HE HAS A BOBBLE HAT I HAD TO HAVE HIM JKASFDASKJLGGADHL!!!!
-breathes for a moment-

Baby Penguin - Sainsbury's

Now I've finished freaking out/fangirling over the baby penguin, I think I'll end the post here! Next week is my last week of college, and we've got a trip to London coming up on Wednesday so next week's Blogmas post should be a good'un!

BLOGMAS Week One | Getting Festive, Christmas Shopping & Lush, Lush, Lush

Hello everyone! It's finally December, Christmas is drawing ever closer and I'm so excited I could quite literally cry (with joy). The horrible thing is that I'm either at work or college every day of the week, so it's pretty much impossible for me to have any spare time on my hands, let alone participate in daily blogmas posts :( Curse you, education and festive retail season...
HOWEVER I still really want to join in with blogmas, so I'm going to attempt to provide you with a
weekly roundup of my festive activities and what I've been getting up to. Cue a rather photo-heavy, busy first week of December!

ON THE FIRST WEEK OF BLOGMAS...
♥ I bought christmas decorations
 I festive-ified my bedroom
I did my first bit of Christmas shopping
I got my nails did (sort of...)

The first thing I noticed whilst putting up the tree in the lounge was the distinct lack of Christmas decorations in my room. Having recently bought a new little tree from Homebase last year, I decided it would only be fair to grab it some cute balls ahem.. and spruce it up a bit.

Balls, Reindeer & Lights - Lidl
And this is the final outcome! I live right behind a Lidl store, and they always have a decent amount of Christmas stuff in there so I decided to take a trip. I ended up buying 5 tubes of mini baubaules, some little clippy reindeer things and battery powered lights that were originally on some twigs - I'll explain later.

Teddy Bear Decoration - Gift, Flower Fairy Lights - Homebase
I love my little jingly bear to pieces, he was gifted to me from the best Nan and Grandad in the world and he's lived to see every Christmas since. The fairy lights on my bed are always there, but I felt that they added to the cosy-ness. Take a peek at my window-sill and you'll spot a slight bit of DIY and a festive squirrel...

Sheep - Home Decor @ TK Maxx, Twigs - Lidl, Plastic Container - Jelly Belly, Squirrel - Homebase, Mini Hat - Innocent Smoothie.
As some of you may notice, I took some inspiration from Zoe's Christmas bedroom video and decided to give the twigs idea a try. Partly because I thought it looked pretty, and partly because the fairy lights that came wrapped around the twigs in the first place were the perfect length for my tiny little tree. Obviously I didn't want to put the twigs to waste so I cut them down, clipped a reindeer on them and shoved them into an empty container that used to be full of jelly beans. Wrapped some ribbon round it and bam, Christmas sorted.
Oh, and I bought my festive squirrel last year, but decided that getting him a little bobble hat would really add to the cute-ness. Thank you, Innocent Smoothies.

Wooden Candle Holder - Sainsburys, Red Sparkly Candle - Lidl, White Candle - Febreze, Bunting & Plaque - Sainsburys.
Last but not least, a cute little bunting, a festive quote and a good ol' candle or two (there are actually three candles, but the third one was an absolute pain in the a-hole to photograph, so I gave up). The little white candle in the glass is my favourite, it's a Christmas edition Febreze one that I picked up in Savers for just over £1, and it smells DIVINE. It's meant to smell like vanilla and snow, or something along those lines - it's the best smell ever.

A few days later I decided I should probably start christmas shopping. I made two major mistakes that night, 1 - Don't go to Bluewater (huge UK shopping centre) on a Saturday, even if it's 8pm, you will get mobbed, and 2 - Going late means that Lush will most definitely run out of all the good stuff before I even get to smell and/or buy it.

Nevertheless, after buying my boyfriend a few bits and pieces - which I wont mention just in case he reads this - and doing some shopping for my family I decided to treat myself to a trip to Lush.

After running out of my beloved Angels on Bare Skin, I waltzed into the shop to pick up another, when a Lush lady asked if I'd like to try the 'festive version' of it instead. Not one to say no, I gave it a whiff and if there was ever a christmas smell, this is it. The classic lavender smell has been replaced with cranberries and brandy and it's so yummy, almost all of the other ingredients (apart from a few essential oils) are exactly the same as Angels AND it was cheaper. Win.

This is where my second biggest mistake took place. Walked into the shop, looked for the magic wand bubble bar, stand was empty. Looked for the melting snowman and/or penguin, baskets were empty. Almost all the good festive bits were gone. Boo. That'll teach me to go to a Lush store late on a Saturday, eh. However I DID manage to grab hold of a Candy Mountain Bubble Bar and I am in love.

The last thing I grabbed were these little stick on nails from Savers for something like £2. I'm not one to go and get my nails done, but these were too pretty to leave, and £2 isn't exactly going to break my bank. So far they've lasted really well and I've had a lot of compliments - nobody even realised they were stick-on nails until I mentioned it.

And that's really all I got up to on my first week of Blogmas, nothing really of any significance, but if it makes you happy reading about my festive adventures then that's good enough for me! Did you jingle some bells or deck some halls this week? Leave a comment below and let me know what you got up to:) WOO CHRISTMAS YEAH.
