The Greatest Leather Satchel... Ever.

I have a weakness, and that weakness is old, vintage looking, brown leather bags. I've been on the hunt for a real leather one for a few years and just never had any luck. I wish I was one of the really lucky people that find them in charity shops from time to time, but that's just not the case. Genuine leather bags and briefcases were coming in at over £100, even over £200 sometimes on Etsy, and I thought all hope was lost.

That's until I wandered into TKMaxx and saw this baby. It was the only one they had, and it's like a beam of light shone down from the sky straight onto it, and I knew it was the one. We had a connection.

Hesitant to turn over the price tag, I was pleasantly surprised when I found out that this bag RRP'd at £125.00 but was priced at... wait for it... £60. Just under half price. Needless to say, I grabbed it straight off of the rail before anyone else could even take a glimpse at it, and skipped with happiness straight to the till.

There has not been a day since where I have not used this bag. It's by Gigi New York, and I don't believe it's available anywhere else, so if you like what you see and have a TKMaxx near you, it's worth popping down there ASAP! I've found my holy grail, number one, most favourite bag in the whole entire world and I can't help but feel my life is complete. Not to mention the fact that it's real leather, and smells bloody amazing!

Primark Bargains & Benefit Envy

Before I start I'd just like to say a huuuuuge thanks to everyone that's nominated me for the Liebster Award, it's crazy, and very humbling to know that you actually appreciate my little tiny blog! Adding all the questions to the Liebster post I wrote a while back really isn't doing them any justice, so I've decided I'm going to make a Liebster page dedicated to all your lovely questions, so look out for that.

Aaaanyway, I ventured into Primark for the first time in forever yesterday and may have accidentally tripped with an armful of clothes right next to the till, and my card may just have happened to fall into the card machine...

It's getting cold, I needed a scarf that went with everything but hate when the fluff from scarves sticks to your eyelashes then gets in your eyes and urgh. Am I the only one?
So, I went for the non-fluff option and picked up this paisley print scarf for £4.00 and I luuuurve it. I've not yet gone a day without wearing it.

I've got the same excuse for these mittens, it's cold outside and I'd yet to have purchased a pair of gloves. They're navy so are a little harder to match up with other bits but I can see past that because these were only £1.00... ONE POUND! I couldn't leave them behind.

I've really taken to going to bed in a slouchy top and some over-the-knee socks lately, it's so super comfy and weirdly, it keeps me warmer than pajama bottoms alone. I saw these really thick cosy lovely socks and knew they'd be perfect. I got them in charcoal and they were £2.50.

This gorgeous dress is by far my favourite purchase. It's a bottle green velvet-y bodycon dress that comes down to just above the knee and the photos really don't do it justice at all. And better still, this was reduced to £5. A fiver. That's all I paid for it. The smile has still not yet left my face.

Moving swiftly along, I made my very first Benefit purchase and it isn't even for me -sobs quietly-. When I say 'very first', I mean that I usually end up having other people buy Benefit for me, as poor old little student me can't afford to buy my own! It's my dad's girlfriend's birthday on Monday and she has adored this ever since it was released, so me and my dad went halves and bought it for her, shhhhh!
I'm so very, very jealous. It's the most gorgeous rose gold colour and it honestly has to be seen in real life to get the full 'experience'. I might have to save up and get myself one, it's far, far too pretty!

I'm finally starting to catch up with my college work, I've got my start date for work and I'm definitely feeling less stressed, which means I'll have more time to start blogging again! Yay! I'm going to start going for runs too, to clear my head from all the god damn paperwork and keep myself a little fitter, which'll be a nice change!

My Day Summary | Wednesday

Boy have I been snowed under with coursework! If you happen to have read my 2014 positivity post (here), then you'll know that I was going through the whole rigmarole of going back to my old college course. The good news is, I got in! The not-so-good news is, I'm now having to catch up on a whole term's worth of work, alongside all the work from this term as well. I have quite literally been drowning in paperwork.

That said, I've been finding it so hard to find the time to do anything aside from coursework, eating and sleeping. Which sucks.

As part of my coursework I went and done some filming for a band I know. We're making promotional videos and I thought it'd be fun to base mine on them, almost like a mini music video. I should probably tell you that their drummer is also my boyfriend haha, which is how I got them to film with me in the first place! I wish I was that girl who knew all the 'too-cool-for-school band people', but I'm really not.
♥ I came across some old photos from when we went on our college trip to Disneyland Paris last year and got all nostalgic. It was my first time ever going to Disneyland and I absolutely loved it. Although because we were only there for 3(ish) days, I didn't get to meet any of the princesses, which saddens me. :(
I only went and broke my brow pencil just days after writing a glowing review of it, didnt I?! TOP TIP: DON'T WIND IT UP PAST A CENTIMETRE OR SO, OR IT'LL PROBABLY SNAP :(
Or maybe it's just me being clumsy. I got a cheeky little exchange for a new one though, so it's all good.
Currently loving a new little band who go by the name of 'Catfish and the Bottlemen'. If you like your indie rock, go listen to their songs Pacifier, Homesick, Rango and Asa. You won't regret it.

Review | Soap & Glory Archery Brow Pencil

Recently I've been paying a lot more attention to my brows. No matter how amazing the rest of your makeup is, if you leave brows unfinished it kills the look completely (for me, anyway). A great arched brow can soften the face and instantly add femininity, but believe me I've been through some 'man brow' looks in my time.

Right up until last year, I never really payed that much attention to how my brows looked, and I came across some photos from when we went on a college trip to Disneyland Paris (best trip ever, might I add), and god almighty my brows were terrible. I was ashamed to have let Minnie Mouse see me like that.

However, I did my research, I groomed my brows properly and have since been experimenting with different products in order to find my perfect brow. I don't think I've found my holy grail quite yet, but until then I wanted to share this little number with you, which has been pretty impressive. It's the 'Soap & Glory Archery Brow Tint & Precision Shaping Pencil' in Brownie Points. What a mouthful.

Holy packaging, this box looks good. I don't know what it is about the S&G packaging that makes me fall more and more in love with it every time, but it just does. This retails at £10 which given, might not be the cheapest drugstore brow pencil ever, but personally I think it's well worth it.

Left: Brow tint
Right: Precision pencil

The packaging for the pen itself is really sleek and light and lovely, thin enough to look and feel nice but sturdy enough that I could throw it in my bag and not have to worry about it. I guess the only downside to this product is that there are currently only two colours - one for brunettes and one for blondes.

The two ends are really quite cool, you use the brow tint first to fill in your brows, and then the precision pencil afterwards to further shape any unruly bits. I love the brush that comes with the tint, it's so thin and precise and is absolutely amazing for drawing on individual hairs. I was worried that it might dry out, but this hasn't been the case whatsoever.

The pencil is a twisty-uppy one, and is a perfect colour match for the tint. I wasn't overly impressed with the formula at first as it seemed quite dry, but after using it a bit it's softened up and does not budge all day.

Left: Precision pencil
Right: Brow tint
Despite there only being two colours available, this brown colour is quite versatile and buildable. I have light brown hair and one sweep over my brows works fine, but I could easily build up the colour and use more of the tint if I wanted, to acheive a much darker brown. I do still tend to tidy up around my brows afterwards with a concealer as I prefer them defined, but that's just me, and this is still great without.

I really like the idea of the brow tint, I love how it applies and how precise it is, but I'm still not sure on the formulation of the pencil. I'm still on the hunt for my perfect brow product, I'm itching to try a HD Brows kit and/or Benefit's Brow Zings, but quite frankly, they'll have to wait until I get paid!

Silver Hair, Summer Nails & Winter Candles

After having a blonde streak in my hair for almost 6 years (I didn't actually realise it was that long until I typed it out... eeeek) I decided I wanted a change and that I was going to dye it a lilac/silver colour. Both my best and worst decision ever.
It looks so pretty, but it's so difficult to upkeep and I can see myself spending so much money doing so! The whole 'hair dying' scenario is what prompted me to head into town and buy some stuff to help me keep up my colour. And plus, it would've been rude not to have a little look around whilst doing so, wouldn't it?

Smart Beauty Pastel Dyes - Savers, £2.99 each
First of all, the dyes themselves. I was debating getting a more 'well known' dye from a brand like Bleach London or Directions, but thought I'd use these first just in case I absolutely hated the colour. Turns out these aren't all that bad, and for only £2.99, are totally worth it. I didn't end up using the lilac one because Silver Moon was the perfect mix of lilac and silver, and I'm now on the hunt for a longer lasting silver dye. If you know any, do let me know!!

I guess these are pretty self explanatory, I needed a decent colour shampoo to keep the silver colour up as long as possible, and I've had nothing but good experiences with Dove shampoos so thought I'd give these ones a go.

I already have Pro-Voke's Intensive Silver Shampoo and used to use it to get rid of the orange in my what-once-was-blonde hair. When I saw the conditioner to match I was all over it, and hopefully this'll help to keep my silver, silver!

Okay so this one's quite random, I bought one of these just before Christmas and burned it to death because it smelt divine. In fact, it's starting to become my favourite smell, and considering it's a limited edition winter scent, I decided to stock up while I can!

I'd ran out of lash glue and never thought to pick up another bottle. I saw this in Savers and grabbed it, it's always worked really well and never let me down, and let's face it, there's nothing wrong with feeling a little more fabulous and wearing false lashes every once in a while.

Expect a full review of this little wonder soon because holy moly I'm in love. I've started paying more attention to my brows lately and this caught my eye because it's not only a pencil, but a tint too. Double whammy alert! It can tackle every look from defined, sharp brows to natural ones and I give it an A*.

I'm really bad at keeping my nails looking nice, and I'm a self confessed nail-biter. I got some of these nails in an aubergine colour for Christmas and they've actually lasted really well and made my nails look lovely (I never thought I'd see the day). I found these on offer in Savers for just £1.69 and had to have them, the colour is gorgeous and I can see them being perfect for the summer.

Also, I've finally ordered some proper lighting! So once I've got that in my hands, I'll do a little before and after post so you can have a gander at my silver locks.

Floral Vans

I went out on a whim and bought some more shoes, eeek.

I've been in love with these floral 'Old Skool Vans' for ages and ages, and finally when I had enough money saved up to buy them, they were sold out everywhere. These shoes were nowhere to be found in my size, not here in the UK, not in America, not anywhere. I'm a size 3/4, so my teeny tiny feet make it hard for me to buy shoes anyway, let alone trying to track down a pair of what seemed to be limited edition Vans!

On a whim, I decided to look online again and found a shop in London that had one pair, and one pair only of the shoes IN. MY. SIZE.
I had no money.
But I was so in love.

I panic bought them anyway.
Now they are well and truly sold out everywhere BUT THEY'RE HERE AND THEY'RE ON MY FEET AND SAKJFHGASGJHLASJH;aghk!!!!

I can honestly say that Vans in the 'Old Skool' style are so so much comfier than the 'Authentic' ones. They're a lot more padded, a lot warmer (seems like a strange thing to comment on, but they are) and mmm they're just divine. I've yet to go out wearing anything different on my feet. These are my babies.

I apologise for the short-ish post, I'm also in the process of dying the blonde part of my hair a silver colour -covers eyes and squeals- so keep an eye out for updates on that!

A LUSH Festive Season

One particular store seemed like it kept popping up for most of us this Christmas, and that store was LUSH. I thought I'd show you all the bits and pieces I received from LUSH this Christmas, I always enjoy rambling on about their products, and it gives you guys a chance to have a nosey as well!

Top L-R: Magic Wand Bubble Bar, Candy Mountain Bubble Bar, Rockstar Soap
Bottom L-R: Snowman Bath Bomb, Snow Fairy Shower Gel
I'll start with the Christmas Candy Box, because even when this was wrapped up under the tree I could smell exactly what it was. This is full of sweet, candy and marshmallow scented stuff that to be honest, is pretty hard not to smell.
The box did have a lovely silver bow around it, but I didn't think to keep it for photos, dived straight in and I've since lost it, booo :(. A Popcorn Lip Scrub (my faaavourite, might I add) also came in the box
, but silly old me completely forgot about it and left it in my bag when I was taking the photos, duuuuh. The Magic Wand bubble bar wasn't originally included, but I wanted one soooo much, so when my mum found one the LUSH people managed to squeeze it in there with the rest, bless their hearts. NOW I CAN BE A BATHTIME FAIRY PRINCESS SQUEEEEE!

L-R: Avobath Bath Ballistic, Tisty Tosty Bath Ballistic
Nathan managed to wander his way into LUSH and pick me up a few bits, bless him, I couldn't imagine him being more lost anywhere else! The Avobath Bath Ballistic smells really fresh and citrusy, I can imagine it'd be a good one to use for a morning wake-up, and Tisty Tosty is just too cute for words, it's like buying me a bunch of roses LUSH style and I love it. The Fun Christmas Set is well... fun! They were all round but I've already used some of the red and orange ones, they all have different scents for different purposes and I find it really therapeutic squidging them into creative masterpieces.

L-R: Space Girl Bath Ballistic, Creamy Candy Bath Bubble Bar, Think Pink Bath Ballistic, The Comforter Bubble Bar
A belated Christmas present that I only received today, the Bunty Box. This is what I would describe as a very 'girly, floral but fruity' smelling box. Apart from The Comforter Bubble Bar which I've used previously and loved because makes you feel like you're in a bath of Ribena, I've not actually tried any of the other bits so that's exciting. I'm particularly looking forward to using the Think Pink Bath Ballistic, as I hear it has lots of little confetti hearts inside - and if that doesn't scream 'girly pamper bath time' then quite frankly, I don't know what does. Damn, I love being a girl sometimes. ALL HAIL LUSH.

P.S. This was actually meant to be posted like half an hour ago but I put The Little Mermaid on and got distracted and now I can't stop singing Part of Your World at the top of my lungs. So I apologise, partly for posting late, and partly for if you just so happen to be my neighbours, and can hear me screeching loudly, trying to sound like Ariel.

OOTD | Teeny Tiny Topshop Haul

I was lucky enough to receive a Topshop voucher for Christmas, so naturally, this gave me an excuse to go in and have a nosey! I tend to try and stay away from Topshop unless my bank account's looking healthy, as whenever I set foot in there it becomes dangerous, especially when armed with my bank card and no one's there to stop me!

Alas, I set foot in the beautiful store on my lunch break and ended up spending £60 more than I should have... oops. This is the outcome!
Yes I do have wet hair in these photos, I had a late shower, the natural light was running out, and I didn't have time to dry it! Hence why I cut my face out as well.

Please excuse the fingerprint-y mirror and god-awful lighting... due to me slacking and the weather being uncooperative!
Tartan Washed Tee - £18.00
MOTO Joni Jeans in Aubergine - £36.00
MEGA Cut Out Buckle Boots - £38.00

I decided to use the excuse of buying a whole outfit to make me feel less guilty about spending so much. I've been after a pair of cut out boots for ages, and even though heels aren't exactly my forte, these were simply too pretty to leave, so I took a step out of my comfort zone and bought them. To be honest, they're not exactly 'heel' heels, they're chunky, they don't make me that much taller and they're still super comfy. Win!

I have a pair of Topshop Leigh Jeans that I literally live and die in, and after hearing so many good things about the Joni Jeans, I thought, 'meh why not?' and picked them up. I decided to go for aubergine-y coloured pair because they're different and I think aubergine is starting to become my new favourite colour! Seriously, I have so many aubergine coloured things. Two things about these in particular:
They're amazing. I love them.

My wardrobe has definitely lacked in the tartan department this winter, so when I saw this top, I had to have it. Fun fact: I have a thing for anything that looks like it's inside out but is actually the right way round. It confuses people. This top is just that, it looks like it's inside out, it's light, it's soft, it's really comfy, it's great for layering, it's great on it's own, it's just great. I did tie it at the back for this particular outfit, as it usually just hangs straight down, but that's just my own personal preference. :)

I'm now aiming to really knuckle down on my blogging and get into the habit of writing 3 posts a week, eeeek! See you soon!

2014 Chit Chat | Positivity

Oh hello, and a very hearty 'Happy New Year' to you all! (Can you tell I've been watching too much 'Miranda' over Christmas? The word 'hearty' either reminds me of her, or of the Hearty Italian bread from Subway. Yum.) This is going to be a slightly wordier post, and I guess a bit more of an insight into the depths if my life, but nevertheless, a bit of New Years' positivity will come along with my ramblings!

I made some pretty poopy life decisions last year, and ended up wishing I could turn back time, I wasn't enjoying life, and most of all I wasn't happy. So I'm wiping the 'life slate' clean, righting my wrong decisions and telling myself that I'm going to enjoy 2014. Most of my decisions that I regret relate to my college life, I left behind a great group of friends and a course that I was getting straight A*'s in for another course that I thought I would enjoy, but I'm nowhere near as good at. And if I'm being honest, the rest of the group aren't exactly the nicest people I've ever met. I went from being really happy to being miserable, and it started to affect my home life, my relationship, and ultimately, my health.

So long story short, 2013 sucked. I developed horrible bouts of depression and anxiety because of what was happening, and it literally felt like the world was crashing down around me and I could do nothing to stop it. I thought nothing could make me happy, even  Nathan (the boyf) started to comment on how unhappy I was, and it suddenly occurred to me whilst watching the New Year's fireworks what sort of life I was living (I know, how very cliché of me). I decided I didn't want to be miserable anymore, I gave 2013 a good ol' kick in the balls and began to make positive changes that would make me happy for me, no one else.

I guess what I'm trying to say is
Don't ever let anyone else or anything else dictate what you want to do with your life. I let others make me miserable all year and ended up running away from something good, into something even worse, with worse people. I lost myself in the ruin of everything else around me, and became unhappy and unhealthy. Do what makes you happy, do it for yourself, and anyone who doesn't like it can shove it where the sun doesn't shine. :)

So 2014 for me is a time for change, and a time for positivity. I've found something I love in blogging, so I'm dedicating my full time and attention to it, I'll hopefully be going back to my old course, I'm going to work on my self esteem and become comfortable just being me, and I'm ultimately going to be happy!

If you've read this far, thank you! This was something I really wanted to get off of my chest, and if it's helped any of you in any way well then that's just a bonus! Also, a lot of you seemed to enjoy my OOTD/FOTD post for Christmas, it's not something I usually do, but if you'd like to see more let me know, and I shall rise to the challenge -punches air ooh yeah girl power yeah-.
