Sephora Full Action Extreme Effect Mascara Waterproof | Review

As someone with naturally poker-straight lashes, I'm on a permanent hunt for waterproof mascaras that not only create curl, but manage to keep it there. I'm not sure what it is about waterproof mascaras that means they manage to maintain curled lashes so much better than their regular counterparts, but they just do.

To my absolute despair, we still don't have Sephora in the UK, so it took my dad (bless him) to bring this all the way back from Paris. Admittedly, this wouldn't have been my first choice of mascara if I was faced with a Sephora myself, but hey, my poor dad and his other half picked it up for me whilst I was in a completely different country, so I can't complain.

When I first twisted open the pretty chunky cap, I can't tell you how excited I was to see an actual brushy brush applicator rather than a plastic one - it's just a funny personal preference I have from time to time. Other than that, it looked pretty no-nonsense and quite basic, not massive, not a dodgy shape, just... well, normal. I'll admit, without using lash curlers I'm not sure how much the first coat would have actually done for my lashes, but I can't afford to go without curling them either way so it didn't bother me too much!

The final result - lashes curled with 2 coats of mascara
I immediately found that this mascara veers more to the 'natural' side and layers nicely, without clumping or flaking - which is lovely - however not something I'd initially expect from a mascara that has 'full action' and 'extreme effect' in its name. On the upside, after a couple of coats it did hold an impressive curl that lasted the majority of the day, which is something not a lot of mascaras can do with my lashes! I'd give the staying power a 6.5/10, it was enough to last me the day but did print very slightly onto my eyelids in the last few hours of wear - and I still definitely ended up with major panda eyes the next morning. Probably wouldn't trust it going swimming, but for the odd emotional cry or unexpected downpour of rain I'm sure it'd do just fine!
